1. Agreement to Terms
Basis Budget is developed and operated by JK Creative Studios LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading, installing, or using Basis Budget (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Basis Budget is an iOS personal finance application for budgeting, account tracking, and net worth monitoring. The App offers two modes: Manual mode (free) for manually entering transactions, and Connected mode (paid subscription) for automatically syncing bank accounts via Plaid.
3. Subscriptions and Billing
Connected mode requires a paid subscription, billed monthly through Apple's App Store. A free trial period is included with your first subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at the end of the trial period. Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscription in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Prices are subject to change. Any price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle after notice is provided.
4. Account and Authentication
Connected mode requires Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Apple ID and device. Manual mode does not require any account or sign-in.
5. User Data
Your financial data (transactions, balances, budgets, categories) is stored on your device and synced via Apple's iCloud service. We do not store your financial data on our servers. Bank connection tokens are stored securely on our servers to maintain your sync connection. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
6. Third-Party Services
Bank account syncing in Connected mode uses Plaid, a third-party financial data service. By connecting your bank accounts, you agree to Plaid's terms of service and privacy policy. We are not responsible for Plaid's availability, data handling, or any issues arising from their service. The App also uses Supabase for authentication and Vercel for API hosting.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App only for personal financial tracking purposes. You may not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or use it for any illegal purpose.
8. Disclaimers
The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Basis Budget is not a financial advisor and does not provide financial advice. We are not responsible for any financial decisions made using the App. The accuracy of financial data depends on your input and third-party services including Plaid and your financial institutions.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Basis Budget shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to data loss, inaccurate financial data, service interruptions, or issues arising from third-party services.
10. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time. If you cancel your subscription, Connected mode features will stop at the end of your current billing period. You can delete all your data at any time from within the App.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
12. Apple App Store Additional Terms
The following terms apply if you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store. You and JK Creative Studios LLC acknowledge that these Terms are concluded between you and JK Creative Studios LLC only, and not with Apple Inc. (“Apple”). JK Creative Studios LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App and its content.
Scope of License
The license granted to you for the App is a non-transferable license to use the App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control and as permitted by the Usage Rules set forth in the App Store Terms of Service.
Maintenance and Support
We are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support services with respect to the App. You and we acknowledge that Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services with respect to the App.
Warranty
We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law. In the event of any failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the App to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the App.
Product Claims
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App or your possession and/or use of the App, including, but not limited to: (i) product liability claims; (ii) any claim that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; and (iii) claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
Intellectual Property Rights
In the event of any third-party claim that the App or your possession and use of the App infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, JK Creative Studios LLC, not Apple, will be solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of any such intellectual property infringement claim.
Third-Party Beneficiary
You and we acknowledge and agree that Apple, and Apple's subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and that, upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary thereof.
